I have looked in a motto list

It has a "s" at the end, so I'm not sure.

FIDELIS ET FORTIS (FAITHFUL AND BRAVE) - 113 INFANTRY

Referring to ASMIC's DUI charge list the ID "18th AAA Gun Bn" is correct. Please post the motto of the yellow disk DUI or a close-up.

Thanks guys...on closer inspection there is an "s" on the end of the motto. Looks like is was impacted on the "s" at some point.

I could not find history of the 18th in Stanton's order of battle ? Saw something of attached to the 29th through another Artillery Bn. ?

Stanton's WW 2 OOB only covers many units active during WW 2. Not every unit active during WW 2 eligible for a DI had a DI. Many units w/o DIs during WW 2 had them post war.

TDY and unable to verify my resources for the 18th AAA Bn or your 23rd Inf. It is a post WW 2 DI.

Yeah I knew it was P/W I have just never seen that before. Clutch backs, no makers marks ?

From Sawicki's book, Antiaircraft Artillery Battalions of the US Army, is this on the 18th Antiaircraft Artillery Missile Battalion (I have shortened it a bit)-

Constituted 1 July 1924 in the Regular Army as 2d Battalion, 3d Coast Artillery (Harbor Defense) and organized from former companies of the 3d Regiment of Artillery.

Reorganized and redesignated 18 Oct 1944 as 521st Coast Artillery Battalion (Harbor Defense).

Disbanded 15 Sept 1945.

Reconstituted 28 June 1950 in the Regular Army as the 18th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion.

Redesignated 13 March 1952 as the 18th Antiaircraft Artillery Gun Battalion. Activated at Ft. Custer, Michigan.

Redesignated 24 July 1953 as 18th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion.

Redesignated 15 June 1957 as 18th Antiaircraft Artillery Missile Battalion.

Inactivated 1 September 1958.

The DUI was approved for wear on 31 August 1953.

No foreign service or campaign credit.
