Would appreciate help identifying this WWII era unit crest. It is probably for a unit of the Ohio National Guard. Other similar crests are posted elsewhere on this forum, but they have different colored backgrounds. This one is yellow/gold -- others are solid red, green, etc. or have split colors (some including yellow/gold). Any opinions as to

which unit this represented? The only hint I have is that it might have been one of the Engineer units. Thank you for your assistance.post-191373-0-63472000-1535492708_thumb.jpgpost-191373-0-08356600-1535492723_thumb.jpg

Capistrano lists that as an unauthorized variant for the 54th (Ohio) Cavalry Brigade. Apparently the authorized version has a light/medium blue upper quadrant.

This from the hglanham.tripod.com page titled Twilight of the Horse Cavalry 1919-1944

54th Cavalry Brigade (Ohio National Guard)

The 54th Cavalry Brigade, constituted in 1921 as part of the 22nd Cavalry Division, organized a headquarters unit in 1922. In 1938 it was removed from the 22nd Cavalry Division and assigned to the 23rd Cavalry Division. Its component regiments were the 107th Cavalry 1921-1940, and the 108th Cavalry 1921-1927 and the 123th Cavalry 1929-1940. It was deactivated in November 1940.

So as such would of been worn by the Command/Staff and Headquarters, and Service Troop or Troops of the brigade (That's the Company sized unit of a cavalry unit), as the constituent units would have a DI of their own.
