dc9 Posted August 21, 2018 #1 Posted August 21, 2018 Hello All, Found this among a Vietnamese and WWII Japanese mixed miscellaneous grouping. Have not had any luck identifying it - hope someone might know what it is - likely am going to put an entire group up for sale. Thanks, Eric
dc9 Posted August 21, 2018 Author #5 Posted August 21, 2018 Wound medal Bob, It looks similar to the South Vietnamese Wound Medal, but, the examples I've seen are six-pointed stars with different color ribbon. Is this a different "grade"?
AustinO Posted August 21, 2018 #6 Posted August 21, 2018 It is exactly what USMCR79 has stated, French WWI.

MECHINF-A15 Posted August 21, 2018 #8 Posted August 21, 2018 Interesting... The French were in SE Asia for a very long time. Just curious but what else was in the grouping? Regards, Mike
dc9 Posted August 25, 2018 Author #9 Posted August 25, 2018 Interesting... The French were in SE Asia for a very long time. Just curious but what else was in the grouping? Regards, Mike Mike, Here are some of the items that were in the grouping. There was also some personal gear, like an unused snakebite kit, canteen and some other stuff. I'd be curious to know what the brass "chit" with the "3y"-like character is (it has the same thing on both sides). I assume the red star is a cap badge. Regards, Eric
patches Posted August 26, 2018 #10 Posted August 26, 2018 I admit, with that Red Star it does look very Bolshevik-ish But as stated. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medal_for_the_War_Wounded
