Thanks Sundance and Wake. It’s fun finding stuff out and about on your own. I buy very little to nothing on the net, mainly just from connections and my own digging. I suppose one day soon I will have to start defining my collection but it’s hard leaving cool stuff behind.

Really like the Ordnanct tab on that jacket! Amazing embroidery! Thanks for sharing! Usually they are sloppier than those. Those are beautiful!

What a great collection of uncommon items! I collect the same way you do. Most of my items are found locally in antique shops, thrift stores, or through local ads on Facebook & Craigslist. Amazing some of the interesting pieces you stumble upon, and it feels more rewarding compared to buying online (not knocking online purchases/sales by any means).

Thanks for sharing!!

On vacation I found a copy of Doughboy to GI that I had been needing and I study it up and walk into a gun shop and see this hanging in the back. He knew it was a good piece and said it came with a certificate and medal from the owner. The names don’t match but I didn’t buy the story. If it wasn’t for the book I would have never known what this was. It has plenty of period patches and some later ones. Still has 4-5 tears and 2 are large but material is still there. Not museum quality but I couldn’t leave it there.cc27a7aa80598ac3942ed49594a99548.jpg

Zipper works and is there to everything.

Here is the certificate and medal. Shot down in 1943 in an air cobra and had 2 kills.9d62bff4b77f9cd9c565c7e3fc1651d0.jpg

Best civil war group I’ve found in a while. This all came out of the same attic from a picker. A 44th NY Gettysburg man that went on to be an officer in the 43rd US colored troops. At least 1-2 other 43rd guys in album.f16d7b35bed5bc58c95823823302bd28.jpg

Richard Phillips was his name. Wounded at Gettysburg and not too far from my home.

That's a cool CW grouping!  Thanks for sharing your collection! Really fun to see what others have found lately! Most sales and things are cancelled around here.
