trenchbuff Posted August 12, 2018 Share #1 Posted August 12, 2018 Thought I'd share this jacket patch from one of our true Cold War submarines. It's huge, measuring 14" x 10". I picked it up in the Philippines. It was made in Olongapo City sometime after 1979 when Darter shifted homeports from San Diego to Sasebo, Japan. Darter was commissioned in 1956 and decomissioned in 1989. A true Cold War warrior and one of our Navy's longest serving diesel boats.

trenchbuff Posted August 13, 2018 Author Share #6 Posted August 13, 2018 I will share this picture with my brother-in-law. He was a member of her decommissioning crew. We always played hide and seek with Darter on WESTPAC when I was on the USS Leahy.
