Tonomachi Posted August 6, 2018 #2 Posted August 6, 2018 782nd Tank Battalion however upon checking the Internet it was also worn by the 421st Infantry Regiment (Heavy Tank).
Allan H. Posted August 6, 2018 #3 Posted August 6, 2018 Sawicki shows the DUI as 421st Infantry Regiment. Allan
tredhed2 Posted August 6, 2018 #4 Posted August 6, 2018 Sawicki shows approved for 421st Inf (Light Tanks) and shows it affiliated with 782nd Tank Bn (Light). Capistrano does not show it being worn by 782nd Tank Bn. Post WW 2, unit was redesignated 319th Tank Bn, then 319th Amph Tractor B then redes 782nd Tank Bn in 1952. What type of back, please?
patches Posted August 7, 2018 #6 Posted August 7, 2018 Interesting that it's German made, from what we can tell it was a separate non divisional tank battalion within the Army Reserves in the District of Columbia in the 50s. Maybe these German manufacturers made a whole load of DIs for units in the Army in general, irregardless if they were based in Germany or not, kinda like shoulder patches right, like German made 25th Infantry Division or U.S Army Alaska patches etc etc.
tredhed2 Posted August 8, 2018 #7 Posted August 8, 2018 Since the battalion was assigned to Army Reserves in 1952, and the unit did not gyro to Germany, probably made for collectors.
