'Flage Guy Posted September 19, 2018 Share #126 Posted September 19, 2018 The tag- I don't know if these were ever contracted outside the Depot.
Keystone Posted September 19, 2018 Share #127 Posted September 19, 2018 Thanks 'Flage, I've seen 1940 dated blanket tags on the forum but don't remember if the stitching was ever shown. Tim
Jake the Collector Posted September 19, 2018 Author Share #128 Posted September 19, 2018 Outstanding shelter half, Keystone. You definitely don't see those very often.
'Flage Guy Posted September 20, 2018 Share #129 Posted September 20, 2018 My guess is that they "streamlined" the embroidering of the letters to speed up production a little, but that's just a guess. A few more Depot products here- good ol' Wire Cutter Pouches...
'Flage Guy Posted September 20, 2018 Share #130 Posted September 20, 2018 The cutter tags: standard M1938 Pouch at left, 1943 "Big-Head" Cutters' Pouch on the right.
Jake the Collector Posted September 22, 2018 Author Share #131 Posted September 22, 2018 Those are some quality pouches. Am I correct in thinking the ones with the pointed bottoms are the first of the two patterns?
'Flage Guy Posted September 23, 2018 Share #132 Posted September 23, 2018 Yes, they are the early ones. Even though the tagged "Big-Head" Pouch is a '44, the "Big-Head" Cutters actually made their debut in 1943.
Jake the Collector Posted September 30, 2018 Author Share #133 Posted September 30, 2018 These period photos of depot gear were posted a while back by forum member "dustin," and I thought they'd be really fitting in this thread. The first shows a bunch of insulated P1912 covers; the second shows the 3rd-pattern depot-made dispatch case.

'Flage Guy Posted October 10, 2018 Share #135 Posted October 10, 2018 I remember that thread; those photos are industrial-grade cool!! Some more Depot goodies: Carrier Packs for the Navy's MAB Radios. The only reason I bought 2 of them is that the Carriers have 2 different Depot stamps (next post). 'Flage Guy Posted October 10, 2018 Share #136 Posted October 10, 2018 The stampings- a little hard to read, but still very much there.

Steve1987 Posted October 10, 2018 Share #139 Posted October 10, 2018 Hi Jim, Who would have thought the MAB radio carrier packs would have had two different stamps? Very interesting, now I need to go check which type mine has.... -Steve
Sgt. Boghots Posted October 16, 2018 Share #140 Posted October 16, 2018 I can't imagine anybody that has a better collection, or more knowlege and experience with USMC gear that our friend "Flage" !! Learn from him !! Best regards, Paul
Jake the Collector Posted November 9, 2018 Author Share #141 Posted November 9, 2018 Bumping this thread up, for I suspect there are many more great depot items out there to be shared. Any era is welcome.

Yeah, I'm surprised this discussion didn't fill up more...maybe this stuff is more rare than we thought it was.

A few more Depot products here- good ol' Wire Cutter Pouches... Im jealous Flage! Ive got fifteen pairs of unissued large head wire cutters and not a single large pouch. Ive got three early pouches and not one small head USMC wire cutter. Large pouches, small head cutters and a depot shovel cover are the thorns in my side. 'Flage Guy Posted November 25, 2018 Share #149 Posted November 25, 2018 Dang...forgot to put the early Canteen Covers in here. Here are some variants of the between-Wars-to-early-War M1910 Canteen Covers constructed at the Depot. I was careful not to put any Stainless Canteens or Cups in them
