minesweeper Posted April 14, 2021 Share #26 Posted April 14, 2021 Great thread! I just picked these up and can add the towing trials patch to the thread. The blue Plainview patch I have doesn’t look US made - it’s slightly more oval, very lightweight with a fine backing - any idea where this one might have been made? Salvage Sailor Posted May 5, 2021 Author Share #27 Posted May 5, 2021 Nice set of patches, especially the HIGHPOINT Hydrofoil Towing Trials. Another bitchen patch is the SWATH Boat SSP KAIMALINO which was a platform used by the Naval Undersea Center. That patch you have is from prior to 1977 as that's when the Naval Electronics Laboratory Center (NELC) was merged with the Naval Undersea Center (NUC), which was located at the foot of Point Loma beside the Ballast Point submarine base, and the two became the Naval Ocean Systems Center (NOSC). That's a normal US made PLAINVIEW patch after some wash and wear. Looks like it was removed from a work jacket or deck jacket.
