drbill Posted August 4, 2018 #1 Posted August 4, 2018 Just acquired this new piece out of antique shop in NY. Opinions and comments welcomed. thanks, Bill
jeremiahcable Posted August 4, 2018 #2 Posted August 4, 2018 Congrats on your find. It looks almost exactly like mine from the same unit, high punched EGA and a very crude and simple Indian head. American or British shell? Does it have its liner and is it named named?
beerdragon54 Posted August 4, 2018 #3 Posted August 4, 2018 It appears good to me but in hand is always better. Good find!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Bugme Posted August 4, 2018 #4 Posted August 4, 2018 Obviously having it in hand is always better but, since we can't and based on this one shot, I like it.
warguy Posted August 4, 2018 #5 Posted August 4, 2018 I like it as well! Is the ega hole punched? Can you see a name anywhere, maybe on the chin strap? If ega's are present, the fifth Marines almost always posted them high, and the 6th low. Once again I like it from what I see and think you probably found good one. Kevin
drbill Posted August 4, 2018 Author #6 Posted August 4, 2018 Yes hole is punched. Have more pics but files are too big to post.
drbill Posted August 4, 2018 Author #7 Posted August 4, 2018 Also, this helmet is named W. Drowes or W. O/D Rowes. Does anyone know how to research this possible name and see if it matches up?
jeremiahcable Posted August 4, 2018 #8 Posted August 4, 2018 There was a William H Rowe in 3/5, but no Rowes or Drowes comes up for the 4th Brigade.
jeremiahcable Posted August 4, 2018 #9 Posted August 4, 2018 Here's the emblem on mine for comparison.
drbill Posted August 5, 2018 Author #10 Posted August 5, 2018 very nice, thanks for all the help and replies
