RememberThe5thESB Posted August 3, 2018 Share #1 Posted August 3, 2018 I got a Kelly for cheap a while ago and was wondering if they would be considered rare or what not, I haven't seen many and know they had a pretty limited production time. Any opinions would be great, thanks as always! Sent from my SM-J327V using Tapatalk
Grant G. Posted August 3, 2018 Share #2 Posted August 3, 2018 I have noticed an increase in value within the past 5 years. Good ones used to be had for around $50-$75, now they rarely seem to sell for less than $125. Ones with original camouflage or names is a whole different story. I can't speak for everyone, but I personally like the ones actually manufactured by McCord in 1941 as opposed to refurbished British and American WWI shells. RememberThe5thESB Posted August 3, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted August 3, 2018 Alright. That's similar to FS FB shells I've seen too, and that's been the past year. Price wise I mean. Last year I picked one up with broken bails and probably 9 coats of paint for 65 dollars. Now I can't find one on eBay for less than 100. Enough off topic now but what would you say for this Kelly price wise? (Its a McCord made.) Sent from my SM-J327V using Tapatalk

aef1917 Posted August 4, 2018 Share #7 Posted August 4, 2018 They're not especially rare, but they seem to be pretty overlooked by collectors. There are a lot of interesting variations in the 1934-40 types, before McCord started reproducing the m1917.
RememberThe5thESB Posted August 4, 2018 Author Share #8 Posted August 4, 2018 Really? I'm not too knowledgeable on pre-WW2 shells. Thanks for that tid bit! Sent from my SM-J327V using Tapatalk
MightyMo Posted September 23, 2018 Share #9 Posted September 23, 2018 I bought what was sold as a M1917A1 for around $40. No liner or bails but in excellent condition. The problem? The stamped markings are completely unknown to me. Granted I am a major novice when it comes to helmets. Any idea what I have?

kaszanka Posted September 28, 2018 Share #16 Posted September 28, 2018 IMHO Kelly helmets are really overlooked - while the M1 became a separate collecting branch, M17A1 was like this retarded brother that no one cared for. Nowadays I am trying to pick them up whenever I can - they are truly interesting and look nice on some early war uniforms. Also the ones in pristine condition are much harder to come by than M1 here is one to a GI who enlisted on Dec 7th 1941, probably in the fever of patriotic rush after hearing about Pearl Harbor. I wonder if He was sorry the next day.. saying "dang i was drunk ... "
