ArtyScout Posted August 2, 2018 Share #1 Posted August 2, 2018 Hey Everyone. I'm starting a new thread with WIP pics. It's a diorama which centers around an 81mm Mortar pit with a .50cal machine gun on the top of the bunker. I took three pics of the cast of characters plus one not in the photo along with the base and the base with added sand bags. I'll post pics as I go along. As always ALL comments and critiques are greatly appreciated. Semper Fi. Manny

Proud Kraut Posted August 5, 2018 Share #4 Posted August 5, 2018 Great, another fine project! Manny, did you build the base with the bunker or was it sold already built?
ArtyScout Posted August 5, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted August 5, 2018 Great, another fine project! Manny, did you build the base with the bunker or was it sold already built? No Lars, this bunker came already built. It was an original Verlinden production. It belonged to a good friend who had it for awhile and never indulged in painting it. But I have all the added extras in personnel, weapons and equipment to add to it. I hope I do a good paint job on it. Semper Fi. Manny

ArtyScout Posted August 14, 2018 Author Share #8 Posted August 14, 2018 Hey guys, Just want to post an update photo. Once I finish the figures I'll probably take some close-ups. Believe me this is just the preliminary work. They will get their fare share of tweaking and weathering; and there is still equipment that I have yet started on. Enjoy and all comments and critiques are greatly appreciated. Semper Fi. Manny
Proud Kraut Posted August 14, 2018 Share #9 Posted August 14, 2018 Looking good! These figures are from different DRAGON sets, right? Lars

ArtyScout Posted August 20, 2018 Author Share #11 Posted August 20, 2018 Hello all; Just posting some update photos. I finished the figures (built, camo & weathering), but I'm thinking I might add one more. I'll see how this all pans out. The next thing will be the crew served weapons and then the base. Well like always all comments and critiques are greatly appreciated. Semper Fi. Manny

MECHINF-A15 Posted August 20, 2018 Share #13 Posted August 20, 2018 Really nice work Manny! I especially like some of the small details such as the EGA tattoo on the figure in post #12. Now I have a question to ask. The M29 81mm mortar that you are going to use in this diorama who is the maker/vendor? Looking forward to more photos as this project goes along. All the best, Mike

All the best, Mike Hi Mike, Thanks for the comments. The EGA tattoo was a quick brainstorm that hit me as I was about to put that figure together. It really is a dry transfer from Archer Fine Transfers. As for the M29 81mm mortar that is from Italeri No. 407 "Accessories". As you see in the pic, it comes with plenty of accessories for dioramas. I hope this helps. Semper Fi. Manny

ArtyScout Posted August 26, 2018 Author Share #18 Posted August 26, 2018 Hi, I got some work done on my diorama. I was able to do the 81mm mortar and the .50cal MG. along with some ammo cans (the open one will get rounds in it), a lubricating oil can, 3 claymore mines and a couple of smoke grenades. I'm looking forward to the remainder of the accessories. Semper Fi. Manny

ArtyScout Posted August 28, 2018 Author Share #20 Posted August 28, 2018 Hello everyone, I'm adding one more photo of WIP. I had others to post but the camera acted funny by focusing on the wrong area, so the pieces came out blurry in the other photos. This one has the oil/gas drums, the jerry cans, 3 ammo crates which I added the carry ropes to, a wooden box and the hot/cold liquid dispenser. Now I have to add some decals/transfers to the boxes and drums and we'll be good. All comments and critiques are greatly appreciated. Semper Fi. mikie Posted August 29, 2018 Share #21 Posted August 29, 2018 The tiny detail that smacks me harder than the others are the slits in the helmet cover on the sniper. Amazing! Mikie

ArtyScout Posted September 9, 2018 Author Share #23 Posted September 9, 2018 Hey Everyone, I hope everyone had a great Labor Day holiday. Mikie and Wartime, thanks for the comments. Just want to post some WIP pics. I added another crate, 2 smoke grenades (yellow & red), an 81mm mortar round and the decals to the MG ammo boxes. I also did some mortar tubes but I forgot to photograph them. There are also a couple of WIP pics of the base. I added extra sand bags above the bunker and gave it a raw and burnt sienna wash for the ground. Now to let it dry overnight so I can continue. All critiques and comments are greatly appreciated.
