BILL THE PATCH Posted July 28, 2018 Share #1 Posted July 28, 2018 Not sure what the bag is. Inside white label is washed out, has lift the do snaps. One strap seems to be broke. The other piece is a spare barrel for M-9? Which looks to be converted into something. Has hanger attached to top which looks like it was cut. I was thinking machete but the opening is not big enough for blade to fit. Any help is appreciated

Steve B. Posted July 28, 2018 Share #3 Posted July 28, 2018 The first item is a carrier for a gas mask ( the nomenclature escapes me at the moment). The second item s a cut down barrelcarrier tyrant seemto have beeen made into a machete sheath, probably post-war.
BILL THE PATCH Posted July 28, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted July 28, 2018 Thanks Steve, but I tried to fit a machete in the barrel carrier, it doesn't fit. The opening is sewn halfway shut. It's about the sz of a barrel. Would they have still used it for a barrel? Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
patches Posted July 28, 2018 Share #5 Posted July 28, 2018 The M6 Gas mask carrier, yours has all it's Marking worn/faded away, which is understandable as it was a popular ad hoc haversack in WWII and Korea.
mhalstead1950 Posted July 28, 2018 Share #6 Posted July 28, 2018 If I recall correctly the first on is for the US lightweight service mask.

patches Posted July 28, 2018 Share #8 Posted July 28, 2018 Yeah it's a bag for a Browning Machine Gun Barrel, these are what they look like, yours has had a major portion of it, to include it's flap cut off, what purpose I do not know?

Grant S. Posted July 28, 2018 Share #10 Posted July 28, 2018 Coincidentally I just saw a cut down barrel carrier just like that in an antique mall. My first thought when I saw it was 'machete sheath!' Then when I got up close it was 'oh...'
