RememberThe5thESB Posted July 26, 2018 Share #1 Posted July 26, 2018 Apologizes for the poor photo quality but we were driving past it. This buffalo has been sitting for over probably two decades in this guys yard. Sad to see something like this rot away... RememberThe5thESB Posted July 27, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted July 27, 2018 Ah alright. If I'm not mistaken it's in Clarkson Michigan. Somewhere around there I think. Guys got a duck sitting there on his front lawn too, and it's ratty. We come up here to see my grandparents, and every single time we've come up, they haven't moved an inch. Just more vehicles gathered around them. Last I remember the LVT still had a big white star painted on its side. USARV72 Posted July 29, 2018 Share #6 Posted July 29, 2018 Yea, 20 is half of 10-20 for location. Used to be a decent M-4 in junk yard in Jackson, MI. A guy had similar Buffalo in Jacksonville, NC back in the 90's. Many don't realize that 1000s of such vehicles were bought in 46 and on , converted to various utility vehicles, construction, logging, on and on. Until 3 years ago there were many high speed tractors at a power line construction company in JAX Fl. Knew a Gentleman near Boone NC that had half tracks and others plus surplus he sold from the 50 til he passed years ago. The parts he had!!!!!! Ray175INF Posted September 14, 2018 Share #9 Posted September 14, 2018 Awe yea that's a beauty, I want it. It needs to be saved There's one on display over at 2nd AAV's area on Lejeune and there was another (I don't know if it's still there) at Marina Cafe off of S. Marine Blvd in Jacksonville N.C. The VFW in Dunedin, FL has one sitting out in front of the Post.
Blacksmith Posted September 14, 2018 Share #10 Posted September 14, 2018 Daggone, that IS cool. Funny, that number on the left side of it almost looks like the format for a state-issued boat number. Would be cool to get one of those running, and take it to a lake.

MC for Michigan, four numbers and two letters It must have seen water if only briefly on the civilian side before being parked next to the thicket. Blacksmith Posted September 15, 2018 Share #12 Posted September 15, 2018 LOL. Youll be the only one in the bass tournament with a WWII LVT. That has to at least get honorable mention. wanderingwillys Posted May 29, 2020 Share #13 Posted May 29, 2020 This one above popped up for sale recently; as for the numbers they are indeed a state boat registration - same way mine is licensed; although I went to the feds and worked through the USCG Documented Vessel Register so I have a Federal Title and don't need to display the hull numbers as such (just the year registration sticker) The gentleman who created the internet listing and who I contacted about spare parts with this tractor unfortunately never followed up with the owner and got back to me Mine spent 53 years as an icebreaker for the City of Buffalo NY before being retired from it's second career
RememberThe5thESB Posted May 29, 2020 Author Share #14 Posted May 29, 2020 Man, she looks to be in good shape too, hopefully someone that knows how to take care of it ended up getting it since you didn't get her.Sent from my SM-J327V using Tapatalk
wanderingwillys Posted May 29, 2020 Share #15 Posted May 29, 2020 I don't think it ever sold - they were asking quite a bit - 30k if I recall correctly - have only seen 3 privately for sale in the US (outside of the city auction where I got mine) and 4 more in Australia / NZ since I started looking for one in 2010 - I doubt there are more than 50 of these left in the US in private hands, museums, or monuments... They are a big vehicle so unless you have the means to move them they can be challenging... Matt
wanderingwillys Posted May 29, 2020 Share #16 Posted May 29, 2020 Here are a few more shots from when it was listed on FB market place at the end of Jan.2020 - She's pretty thin in places - lots of rust in the upper hull; guessing the double bottom and bilge isn't great either... But she's also 75 years old likely (maybe 74)
RememberThe5thESB Posted May 29, 2020 Author Share #17 Posted May 29, 2020 Ah shoot I think I misread the post in the first place! Didn't realize you were talking about the one I posted being for sale! My bad. And thanks for the extra pics.Sent from my SM-J327V using Tapatalk
