Like the stripes badge made from the copper penny and the joke dogtag, we tend to think of these being made later during the Vietnam war, but shows that even a generation before the soldiers could get bored and needed to let off steam

I understand "Stars and Gripes" was a comedy/ variety show that performed as part of the USO during the war. Do you think this tag could be related to that show or group of performers?

I think the dog tag is actually a property tag that was attached to a set of keys or a piece of equipment that belonged to the Stars and Gripes show that if they lost they wanted back. It dose say "Please return to Stars and Gripes" what else could it be?
