world war I nerd Posted July 14, 2018 Share #1 Posted July 14, 2018 This video came across my radar this morning. A Korean art teacher who built a rather ambitious, large scale model of the Japanese surrender to MacArthur on the USS Missouri in 1945, ending the War in the Pacific: The video is in the Korean language, but it has English subtitles. aerialbridge Posted July 14, 2018 Share #9 Posted July 14, 2018 He is a credit to his nation and its people that are generally tremendously hard-working, meticulous and dedicated to whatever they do. Living in LA for forty years, I appreciate their presence and the contributions they've made in this region. And the great bulgogi, kalbi, and hoedeopbap to name a few tasty foods. Thanks for posting the video of this Korean artist and his incredible, one of a kind model of the Missouri on V-J day. Even with a few of the American and Japanese officers' ribbons being out of precedence, it is an amazing tribute. I wonder if there would be a single ship-modeling contest where he would not take home the blue ribbon with his model?

Garandomatic Posted May 12, 2022 Share #15 Posted May 12, 2022 Had to find this again to tell a student about it, and since it's been a few years, maybe a helpful bump will let some new folks see this amazing work.
manayunkman Posted May 12, 2022 Share #16 Posted May 12, 2022 Painting tiny figures is one thing but actually making each figure, filling them down and putting on details, 2000 plus, man that’s amazing. Saved a few screenshots in case something should happen to the video.
