M-1943 boots

Recommended Posts

okay sweet. i'll think i'll do that, and I have an original pair to go off of.

do the WPG boots have the olive drab cavnas lining or a white lining?

I was just dubbing up a buddy of mines boots a little while ago. His are from WPG and they have the white lining.

Mine are ATF and have the green.

my pair of m43 combat boots have the green canvas lining. do you have a picture of an original with white lining for reference?

also if anyone has bought a pair of repros from What Price Glory can you share a pic of the back of the boot, i think the seams may be different than the original, but i can't tell from the factory pic...would like to know before i spend the $100.

thanks alot

was anyone able to find anything on Henry E. Johannas 37533957?

thanks

Brad,

There is no Henry E. Johannas on the NARA website, but then again, that is just for Army personnel. Could he have been in another branch? Also, he is not listed on the Social Security Death Index.

I did find a "Henry A. Johannes" who got his social security in California and died in Virginia in 1975. Here are his Army records:

NARA Records

Here are his SSDI records:

Name HENRY A JOHANNES

Birth 05 Oct 1912

Death 21 Jun 1975

Last Residence VA

SSN 548-10-7843

Issued California

GB

i really appreciate you looking for me.

the inside of boot cuff is distinctly mark Henry E. Johann(a)s or Johann(e)s

He may have been in other branches.

but the number in the boot is written in black marker 37533957

and also has 1-3957 or I-3957 stamped in black, so the last 4 digits of his service number are definately 3957

interesting find though, i looked at the boots more closely at his last name and i think it is and (e) in Johann(e)s, not an (a). so thanks!

his name and number are written in both of them and have the same 1 or I -3957
