Picked up a Maroon Beret today with a flash I am not able to identify.

Blue Border, White Inner Border, Red Center ...

Looks like the 82nd Airborne Flash in reverse ..

Any ideas ?

The Beret Insignia book by William A. Hudspeath shows two similar flashes one with the addition of two white ticks worn by the 2nd Bn (Abn), 187th Infantry (193rd Infantry Bde) and three ticks worn by the 3rd Bn, 187th Infantry (101st Airborne Div-AASLT) but none with a single tick on without any ticks.

Tonomachi ,

Thank You !!

I didn't look at it right, I was wrong it has the 3 tick/has marks on it !

That would explain why I wasn't able to find the one I thought it was

Thank You Again !

Is this the Flash? If so then this is the Flash for the 3rd Battalion 187th Infantry 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) if on the Maroon Beret, I'm gathering is a early one for when the 3rd Bn 187th Inf was on jump status as a Paratrooper unit, the 3rd Brigade of the 101, which was from sometime in 1972, Spring I think, till April 1974. if it was on the Dark Blue one, worn when the unit was taken off jump status and was reorganized like the rest of the 101 in 1974, an air assault unit.
