mccooper Posted June 25, 2018 Share #1 Posted June 25, 2018 Can anyone ID the SSi worn by H. Herman Harjes in this photo? Doing a display on WWI volunteer ambulance drivers, and would like to use this pic. Thank you. mccooper

mccooper Posted June 25, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted June 25, 2018 To finish the story, H. Herman Harjes, wealthy American banker in Paris, formed the Harjes Formation, American volunteer ambulance drivers. He later merged with Richard Norton's Motor Ambulance Corps, and went on to become the chief liaison officer for the AEF with the French High Command. Hence the patch; first one I have seen in use. Thanks again. mccooper
littlewilly Posted June 25, 2018 Share #6 Posted June 25, 2018 All in favor say "Aye." Aye! Thank you both. mccooper Hello! I am an "Aye" as well. This patch looks like it may have a dark colored border. Have not seen one with a border other than olive drab backing. MHJ
