Bob Hudson Posted June 23, 2018 Share #1 Posted June 23, 2018 To give you a quick idea of the size of this great piece, compare it to a Coke can: It weighs 6 pounds, is 20 inches tall and 16 inches wingtip-to-wingtip:
Bob Hudson Posted June 23, 2018 Author Share #2 Posted June 23, 2018 The carving fits nicely into a large base piece:
Bob Hudson Posted June 23, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted June 23, 2018 I assume this was made in the Philippines. The retired Marine officer had a houseful of Philippine carvings, tribal weapons, bowls, etc. It was some of the nicest such Phillipine artifacts I've seen. I love the work on this eagle. He received a very large Phillipine carved plaque during a change of command: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/312067-huge-marine-corps-carved-presentation-plaque-painting/
