Does anyone know if early high pressure liners (Westinghouse Rayon Liners for example) were used on Tarawa? Is there any photographic evidence?

Lot's of Hawley liners in footage, but I came across this photo showing marines en route to Tarawa, you can see one is wearing a high pressure liner.

It's also possible that is a low pressure liner (St. Clair or Hood Rubber).

Grant, I think you may be right. Though faint, the liner appears unpainted and the exterior pattern reminds me of a Hood Rubber liner, could possibly be one!

The Marinento the right looks like he doesn't have a Hawley

I looked at some footage from Tarawa; lots of Hawleys everywhere but you can tell some individuals have low/high pressure liners under their shell since they lack the protrudin, bulky Hawley visor on the front.

A screen capture from the documentary film "With The Marines at Tarawa", showing ENS Bill Kelly, the first Navy pilot to land on the island. Note the liners on the two men at screen right.
