Australian made 1st marine jacket

picked up this Australian made 1st marine jacket in trade with another forum member it originally belong to Robert A Allison who serve on Guadalcanal with the Co B 1st pioneer Bn landing on 7 Aug 1942 and finally departing on Dec 15 1943 and arrived in Melbourne Australia on Jan 7 43 During this time I presume he aquired the jacket he went on to serve New Guinea Cape Gloucester and Pavuvu island were he was one of the lucky ones who earned ticket back to the statespost-3978-0-27325600-1529169842.jpegpost-3978-0-75936800-1529169876.jpegpost-3978-0-69769500-1529169908.jpegpost-3978-0-26109100-1529169936.jpegpost-3978-0-23671000-1529169986.jpeg

Wow, theatre made, very nice. I had one like that and believe it was Chinese made from when the 1st was in China occupation duty. Or is is just the sheen from the flash?

Wow, that's definitely theater made piece but it doesn't conform to the known Aussie examples. Very beautiful, actually!

I would lean towards it being Chinese, to be honest. It looks a great deal like the ones that are seen on some 1st MarDiv uniforms from their time in China.

I know the jacket had 2 owner the first is the one I listed and the 2nd was late war marine who did see duty in China After compare it with other Aussie patches I have to agree that it mostly like Chinese madepost-3978-0-42812100-1529361811_thumb.jpeg

Nice jacket! Love the patch, not your standard bevo woven patch but home/custom made. The blue background looks like silk dress fabric.
