SDC Posted June 11, 2018 Share #1 Posted June 11, 2018 I bought the M1 pictured several years ago from Scott Duff. The Cunningham book mentions a small production run of these in 1953 to rebuild supply following Korea. Is there any way to ID a 1953 contract bayonet from those produced during the WWII years? Misfit 45 Posted June 12, 2018 Share #2 Posted June 12, 2018 The simple answer is NO. Gary Cunningham's book (not the blue one) shows a photo of a 1953 contract bayonet with the original packaging. He said the markings are "nearly" identical to the WWII UC M1, only in that the flames on the bomb might be slightly different. The photo is the book is not clear enough to make any determination. Also, Gary was very careful about making definitive statements (like I do). I say there is likely no way to tell the difference. Marv
