KASTAUFFER

I just got back from a visit to Hawaii to see my 97 year old Father In Law who is a Pearl Harbor survivor from the USS Honolulu.

While I was there he gave me this group of shrapnel he was given by a local person who picked it up on the street in Honolulu the morning after the attack.

The salt air is not kind to metal objects in Hawaii so you can see it has rusted a bit over the years,

Quite a few civilians were killed during the attack by falling ordnance and Japanese fire.

What an incredible bit of history. Tangible reminders of the attack's impact all over Oahu. Thanks for sharing.

Great stuff! I have a uniform of a USS Honolulu Dec. 7th Vet.

BKW

Wouldn't happen to be named to Ray Emory?
