Another Ebay seller claiming this helmet belonged to a marine who wore it at Peleliu and was a KIA. Seller claims it belonged to Pvt Richard Edward Krauss medal of honor recipient.

Vietnam Mitchell cover so Vietnam period use, the helmet could have been in use at pelelui 1944 and reissued etc but its a long shot.

I like the Mitchell cover, but its a saying that has saved a lot of $$$ for a lot of collectors

 

Buy the helmet not the story -

Vietnam era helmet and liner.The liner was a para model as well.Has the snaps on the side and the remains of the straps can be seen.

Really good point, and bravo to the OP for having the smarts to do so.

 

We have seen a number of cases - in just the last month - where guys thought they had hit the jackpot. Jerked their wallet out without posting, and got burnt.

 

Some folks are so worried that somebody else is going to get a deal, that they make bad decisions.

 

Sometimes being the second mouse to the cheese is best...

 

If you were thinking about about buying the helmet it is a good thing you asked here first.

Kraus serial number in helmet (not shown above) has army post WWII RA prefix (?) Vietnam cover, Vietnam helmet, etc. Somebody's blowing $300 on a good yarn.
