RustyCanteen Posted May 24, 2018 Share #3 Posted May 24, 2018 Hi Ken, Maybe you should add a DUKW to your 'fleet'? Cheaper than a GPA.. Regards,
General Apathy Posted May 24, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted May 24, 2018 Hi Ken, Maybe you should add a DUKW to your 'fleet'? Cheaper than a GPA.. Regards, .Hi Rusty, also larger than a GPA. Thirty years ago one of my friends went out to look at a DUKW, his wife issued him instructions ' don't come back with a DUKW ' sure enough he obeyed his wife and didn't come back with a DUKW, he came back with TWO . . . . and it's his wife that tells this story . But he always relates, you haven't got a friend in the world when your restoring a DUKW, but set it down on a beach and the whole world and his dog wants a ride in the sea. . . . . . But when you come back out and have to drain the thing down and change gearbox and axle oils, again you haven't got a friend in the world. Lewis. . Bugme Posted May 25, 2018 Share #7 Posted May 25, 2018 Gee, that's just about everything that broke on the DUKW's, especially the axles and shafts.
