tolly Posted May 18, 2018 Share #1 Posted May 18, 2018 Hi, I have just bought a gold escape kit and its still sealed, I would like to open it and get a good look inside but i am having a hard time getting it open, seems to be hard glue or sealant of some kind, looks aged and i am able to cut it with a stanley knife, but is there an easier way or am i doing something wrong.......???? thanks for any help

Ronald Posted May 18, 2018 Share #4 Posted May 18, 2018 Were you confident when you bought it? Is it ww2 or later vintage? Here is a link to them. As you can read, the sealed ones are rare. https://www.sarasotanumismatics.com/ww2-us-military-escape-evasion-kits-sealed-gold-coins-rings-department-of-defense-issued-6456.html

Ronald Posted May 18, 2018 Share #9 Posted May 18, 2018 That is what I have been trying to tell him! Too bad you have tampered with it to open. Looks like you have been trying to cut and pry it open and damaged the casing.
tolly Posted May 18, 2018 Author Share #10 Posted May 18, 2018 I think i will listen to the knowledgeable people here and leave it alone, plus it is really bloody hard and i am too lazy ! Sealed it will stay. Thanks for your advice, really do appreciate it.
Lsparks Posted May 19, 2018 Share #11 Posted May 19, 2018 If I was buying, it looses around 1/2 value opened and avails itself to having the internals being tampered with. It’s NOS...so it’s what it’s supposed to be right now. After you open it...not so. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Rakkasan187 Posted May 19, 2018 Share #12 Posted May 19, 2018 A shame that it was not left alone.. Now if someone wants to buy it, they will assume it has been tampered with and resealed.. Some of the value has been decreased
