There was a 1st Armored Cav Sq in the US Army (1930s). Really consisted only of Troop A, assigned 1st Cav Div at one time.

Some disagreement as to whether this is for that unit, or 1st Cav Sq, CT NG.

In either case, this is a restrike (CB), not a period original.

FWI - there were three other armored car sqdns, in the 1930s, and all with official period DIs - 461st, 462nd, and 463rd.

Thanks for the update. Obscure, at first I was thinking it might of been a unit assigned to the 1st Cavalry Regiment, but didn't get hits, found those last three were components of the Cavalry Divisions, the 61st-63rd Cavalry Divisions

The 1st Armored Car Squadron, formerly of the 1st Separate Cavalry Squadron, of the Rhode Island National Guard. There was one in Maryland, Massachusetts, and Connecticut.

Probably other states, replacing horses for cars.
