Salvage Sailor Posted April 29, 2018 Share #1 Posted April 29, 2018 Aloha Everyone, This is a hand made wooden model I've had for several years which belonged to and was flown by a USMC pilot at Kaneohe Bay Air Station (now MCBH Kaneohe Bay) It's a North American T-28 Trojan Bu #137692 perfectly painted in 1960's colors and mounted with a big bolt on a mahogany stand. Somewhere around here I also have a set of photos of the officer and other pictures of the various aircraft in the squadron, all in orange, black and white color schemes. Salvage Sailor Posted November 29, 2018 Author Share #9 Posted November 29, 2018 T-28 TROJAN DRIVER (Photo: VT-2 over NAS Whitting Field, 1973) North American Aviation T-28 Trojan - Piston-engined military trainer aircraft used by the United States Air Force and United States Navy beginning in the 1950s. Besides its use as a trainer, the T-28 was successfully employed as a counter-insurgency aircraft, primarily during the Vietnam War. It has continued in civilian use as an aerobatics and Warbird performer.
Tecko Posted November 30, 2018 Share #10 Posted November 30, 2018 Nice looking model. Who built it? Funny how the T-28 was painted with a black strip from exhaust, to disguise exhaust and oil markings over its white fuselage. Thanks for sharing this with us. gwb123 Posted February 14, 2020 Share #14 Posted February 14, 2020 Monogram used to make a very nice kit of this aircraft, including a sliding canopy, and folding landing gear. I will look for a photo. I can't remember if they later made the counter insurgency version or not.
