kanemono Posted April 27, 2018 Share #1 Posted April 27, 2018 Here is a large bronze plaque dedicated to the memory of Lieutenant William H.B. Smith, Company A, 23rd Infantry, NYNG. This is a large bronze plaque measuring 17 1/2" wide by 24" high sculpted by Karl Hlava who was a New York City sculptor and worked in the first half of the twentieth century. I have not been able to find much information on either Lieutenant William H.B. Smith or Karl Hlava. Someone must have thought a great deal of Lt. Smith to have had a large expensive bronze plaque sculpted and cast in his memory. Dick
