R. Watkins Posted April 14, 2018 Share #1 Posted April 14, 2018 I believe this design was WWII era, possibly USAAF or USN. Does anyone recognize this Disney Emblem?
tredhed2 Posted April 15, 2018 Share #2 Posted April 15, 2018 That's funny - it's in Disney Dons Dogtags but the ID is not noted.

Yeah, and this is not the only example in this book that lacks an ID. It's been my main complaint with this work since I first purchased it back in 1992 (but I still never tire of going through it cover to cover from time to time). Johnny Signor Posted April 15, 2018 Share #4 Posted April 15, 2018 Bob, I think if you check , some of the other "Squadron" emblems in the DDD book are also done like this one, they have several designs all with "same" unit designation, Disney would draw up more than one design for approval by the unit "requesting" a design so to give them a choice of designs, thus this Woodpecker being listed as the 449th Bombardment Squadron, if memory serves me w/o checking the book, there were a couple of others listed as 449th as well .......... tredhed2 Posted April 16, 2018 Share #5 Posted April 16, 2018 Unfortunately, Disney has no record/documentation for this insignia - probably why it is missing in the book.
