36thIDAlex Posted April 6, 2018 Share #1 Posted April 6, 2018 Hey, so I don’t really know much at all about submarine qualification badges but I saw this in a local antique store for a few bucks and thought I’d pick it up in case. Not sure what era this would be from but the backing on it makes me think private purchase? It’s not the usual type of pin backing I see on WWII era stuff but not the stick pins of later wars. Maybe I just don’t know anything about Navy insignia. Thanks for any help. MattS Posted April 6, 2018 Share #2 Posted April 6, 2018 I'm not 100% sure, but I think that's the miniature sized insignia for the navy mess/dinner dress uniform. As seen here on the navy's website: http://www.public.navy.mil/bupers-npc/support/uniforms/uniformregulations/chapter3/PublishingImages/Officer/om_dinnerdresswhitejacket_lg.jpg
BBG Posted April 7, 2018 Share #3 Posted April 7, 2018 Nice find. It was made by Sheridan of Perth, Australia during WW2.
36thIDAlex Posted April 7, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted April 7, 2018 Nice find. It was made by Sheridan of Perth, Australia during WW2. What about the badge marks it as Australian made? Is it rarer/more valuable than standard submarine badges? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
