Unknown Submarine Badge

Recommended Posts

Hey, so I don’t really know much at all about submarine qualification badges but I saw this in a local antique store for a few bucks and thought I’d pick it up in case. Not sure what era this would be from but the backing on it makes me think private purchase? It’s not the usual type of pin backing I see on WWII era stuff but not the stick pins of later wars. Maybe I just don’t know anything about Navy insignia. Thanks for any help.

The back is marked Sterling Silver

Nice find. It was made by Sheridan of Perth, Australia during WW2.

What about the badge marks it as Australian made? Is it rarer/more valuable than standard submarine badges?
