McDermut99 Posted April 4, 2018 Share #1 Posted April 4, 2018 I didn't look in detail at a auction lot of various military equipment, but in this case I think it didn't turn out bad. All of the pouches are nylon, no canvas ones unfortunately. They were so caked in dirt I had to spray them down. Are there any especially sought after ones in this collection or are they all common FA pouches? All comments are appreciated!

agate hunter Posted April 4, 2018 Share #3 Posted April 4, 2018 Those are all pretty common 1980s/90s ALICE first aid pouches, the desirable nylon ones will have plastic snaps those are vietnam era but if they have a metal snap they are post vietnam and still just surplus worth a few bucks each id say. mrrm Posted April 4, 2018 Share #5 Posted April 4, 2018 As agate hunter above stated, do a quick check to see if any of these have the plastic snap, the first pattern M-1967 nylon 1st aid/compass pouches had such.
Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted April 6, 2018 Share #6 Posted April 6, 2018 Also check to see if some have smaller snaps, the early ALICE ones had snaps not up to spec, they were they ones used on the grenade side straps of the ammo pouch. Not super desirable but interesting IMO. I got a lot of 30+ Alice pouches and found one.
milsurp_scout_14 Posted April 6, 2018 Share #7 Posted April 6, 2018 Those that Cap is speaking of seem to usually be contract dated 1973. Snap is noticeably smaller, like those used on the M16 cleaning kit cases. The other interesting type (to me anyway) were some made in the late 70's/early 80's that were marked specifically for the 'compass, magnetic, unmounted' (as opposed to 1st aid/compass). The 'US' markings were in a bit different of script, and the flap markings were very black and bold. These usually have a 'DAA-' prefix to the contract number. And I've hunted up a 74 contract date for my early ALICE gear.
