There is a separate thread on WWII officer’s airborne brass, but I thought I might add these to the pinned thread.

Vey nice insignia. There have been two 80th Infantry Battalions (no regiments in the modern era I could find):

1.) From 15 May 1946 (when redesignated from the 1st Battalion 364th Infantry Regiment) to 29 Oct 1947 (when redesignated back to the 1st Battalion 364th Infantry).

2.) From 20 Oct 1950 (when redesignated from the 368th Infantry Regiment, less 1st and 2nd Battalions, to inactivation 06 April 1951.

I believe both 80th Infantry Battalions were "colored" units in the segregated Army of that time. Information from The Army Lineage Book, Volume II: Infantry, 1953.

While this office's Engineer collar insignia does not have a number, it does have "ALA" for Alabama.  Was this worn by the Engineer officers in the Alabama Army National Guard?  Thanks again.

Hello,

This officer collar brass for company B of the 15th Infantry Regiment

came off of Ebay. It is, I believe, a postwar German made insignia made for the

occupation forces. The 15th Regiment went home in September 1946.

It seems unusual in the "B" being attached but not so unusual since an

officer might want to let others know he was part of the same outfit as Audie Murphy.

Beyond that, Company B fought all the way from Morrocco to Bavaria. Dogface Soldiers

by Daniel Champagne tells the story.  Anyway, photos below:

Quite possibly for a school or academy rather than the state of Alabama.
