VF-3 Felix the Cat patch

Many of the WWII insignia this eBay Seller is auctioning are genuine, but several aren't. There are a few posts in other recent threads.

The VF-3 opening this thread is among those that are not genuine WWII-era. The Seller forthrightly states he is not a collector and is relying on what others tell him or what the deceased collector had noted on the patches. Some of the IDs have been wrong, too. He is selling a collection inherited by members of the collector's family. He states he has relied on "experts" but it should not be assumed that mean he did so on each patch. He offers a 14-day return as a protection to the buyer.

Just because a patch is/was part of a large or "old" collection does not make it genuine. Just because a patch looks old does not mean it is genuine or from WWII. Each patch should be viewed and evaluated on its own. Absent experience and knowledge, independent research is a must.

A good rule of thumb on each and every purchase: Caveat emptor, "let the buyer beware."

Agreed 100%....I've seen a few stinkers in that collection that still brought pretty good money. Too bad for the buyers but you should know what you are buying.
