I purchased a 4 pocket uniform from the Americal division a few days ago from a fellow forum member. It has screw back US and medical collar disk as well as a 3 piece wolf brown ribbon bar consisting of American Defense, Asiatic-Pacific with 3 stars and Philippine Liberation with 1 star. The uniform also has 6 overseas service bars (Bullion) and 1 service stripe. There is also evidence of a 2 piece ribbon bar above the other ribbons and evidence of a unit award under the ruptured duck. I was wondering if the Navy PUC was awarded to only the 164th Infantry or the whole division. I am also aware of one company of the 182nd earning the Army PUC on Bougainville. It also has the laundry number S-1795 inside. I have been researching the number on WWII Enlistment and have narrowed it down to 4 soldiers after looking through find a grave for there rank and usinf the American Defense ribbon to find pre-war soldiers. The last 4 have no info or pictures of their grave.

Sorry about the bad photo, I can't find anywhere better to take the picture.

PAM 672-1 WWII-Korea lists no Divisional awards of the Army or Navy DUC/PUCs.

So that narrows the soldier down to Co E 182nd Infantry Regt or the 164th Infantry Regt.

Disregard this last post, I have read the Americal Division unit history and it says exactly what units were awarded it. I am narrowing down the WWII Enlistment records. I am going through the website and looking for pre-war enlistees. I am in the progress of restoring this uniform. I already have the Navy PUC. There was another 2 Piece ribbon bar above the other ones. I assume it would be Good Conduct and maybe Purple Heart or Bronze Star. I also noticed he has 6 overseas bars and only 3 stars on the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon. So he may have come home early.
