cerick1450 Posted March 21, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 21, 2018 Hello Is this a proper ww2 HS-38 Headset, or a postwar variation? Is the chamois cover on the ear set correct? Thank you

robinb Posted March 21, 2018 Share #3 Posted March 21, 2018 No. That's for aircraft use. You need the R14 headset for a tanker helmet.
cerick1450 Posted March 21, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted March 21, 2018 Here is a Link that discusses the head sets. It seems to say this is proper. It says that the Army AC and the NAvy switched in 1943 to low-impedance HS-33 headset with the ANB-H-1 rec. . I am confused... http://www.big-red-one.org/M1938%20TANK%20HELMET%20INFO%20PAGE.htm
cerick1450 Posted March 21, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted March 21, 2018 After searching I found this article on this forum. It also seems to confirm use in late war.. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/160590-tanker-helmet/
robinb Posted March 23, 2018 Share #6 Posted March 23, 2018 It's good that you're doing your own research. You won't find a pair of ANB-H-1's in any of my tanker helmets though. I looked at the threads you referenced and didn't see any conclusive evidence that they used them in tanker helmets.

How much would you say an R14 costs? Gonna try and look into one.
