cerick1450 Posted March 21, 2018 #1 Posted March 21, 2018 Hello Is this a proper ww2 HS-38 Headset, or a postwar variation? Is the chamois cover on the ear set correct? Thank you
robinb Posted March 21, 2018 #3 Posted March 21, 2018 No. That's for aircraft use. You need the R14 headset for a tanker helmet.
cerick1450 Posted March 21, 2018 Author #4 Posted March 21, 2018 Here is a Link that discusses the head sets. It seems to say this is proper. It says that the Army AC and the NAvy switched in 1943 to low-impedance HS-33 headset with the ANB-H-1 rec. . I am confused... http://www.big-red-one.org/M1938%20TANK%20HELMET%20INFO%20PAGE.htm
cerick1450 Posted March 21, 2018 Author #5 Posted March 21, 2018 After searching I found this article on this forum. It also seems to confirm use in late war.. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/160590-tanker-helmet/
robinb Posted March 23, 2018 #6 Posted March 23, 2018 It's good that you're doing your own research. You won't find a pair of ANB-H-1's in any of my tanker helmets though. I looked at the threads you referenced and didn't see any conclusive evidence that they used them in tanker helmets.
