TreasureHunter Posted March 7, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 7, 2018 Having a confusing time figuring out if serial number B15095 is traceable? Any info that can be gained by this serial number? dpast32 Posted March 7, 2018 Share #2 Posted March 7, 2018 Hi, I'm not an authority on this particular subject, although I do recall reading that the reverse stampted numbers are not traceable., IIRC. ( At least for the present anyway. ) There are several published texts concerning the various GAR awards, & IIRC, one the the CAR's old manuals describing their medals & related items may be found for free download with some judicious searching. If I can locate my copy, I'll provide the line here on the Forum. Best, dpast32
SARGE Posted March 7, 2018 Share #3 Posted March 7, 2018 Dom is correct that these numbers are not traceable to an individual. The prefix letter corresponds to the first letter of the last name of the then Commander so it can often be dated to a time range if there are no duplicate names beginning with "B". And, of course, I can't find my list of National Commanders when looking for it today.
