Mikeymarine202 Posted March 6, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 6, 2018 Just got this gulf war helmet cover recently. Now I was wondering if the cover was actually in the gulf war. I've come to believe it might have been because it is in worn condition and on the back of the cover somebody wrote "Jesus" with an arrow pointing up. Now there are no markings on the inside of the cove also. Now I'm hoping that the cover is not post gulf war. I know that the us military manufactured the six color desert camo covers were designed for the pasgt helmet between 1981 and 1991. I've taken notice that many covers made in 1991 have no foliage slits unlike the covers made between 1981 and 1990. I would very much appreciate anyone's experties on maybe why the cover has no markings was it common when the six color desert camo covers were being made, were unmarked covers mass produced or are they rare. Also if you think the cover is post gulf war or if it might have even been in the gulf war. I would love to here all of your knowledge on this subject. please I encourage everyone to leave replies it would help me out a lot. Thank you? Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted March 6, 2018 Share #3 Posted March 6, 2018 It is my hypothesis that the slitless 6 color covers were made to speedup production for the gulf war. I think the slitless 3 colors were made for the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Very possible it was used in desert shield, I bet they had a lot of boring downtime to doodle. I love these graffitied covers. Jarhead8007 Posted March 6, 2018 Share #6 Posted March 6, 2018 I used one over there. Most of the Marines I know ironed on of the Eagle Globe & Anchor designed for the pockets of our woodlands to mark the cover as Marine's. Did the same with the tri-color desert cammie cover in OIF in '03. Both my 1990-91 Desert Storm and 2003 OIF helmet covers had the slits (and the iron on).
