I am sorting through my stuff and have a few flashlights i would like to date. Is there a good reference out there? I am particulalry interested in the VN and post VN era angle head lights.

Thanks

Wow, poor Bob! Left your question in March of 2018, four years ago and I'm the only one to answer you! stinks, Bob; been there, done that! To my knowledge, there are no books on US military flashlights, nor is there a website dedicated to that one specific genre. The best website I can suggest to you is this one which has quite a few listed:

http://www.hardscrabblefarm.com/milhist/flashlights.html

and:

https://www.breachbangclear.com/military-flashlight-history/

Hope this information helps you in your quest for information!

Over the past couple of years i scrounged up a couple of old Navy flashlights at garage sales. It took a little digging to find info about them. I'll bookmark your websites in case i find more.

Are these things of special interest to you? I just think they are neat, and unlike much militaria, can actually come in handy to have around.

Love flashlights,  so thanks for the info

.

I also had a passion for the WWII US Army angle-head TL-122 flashlight, I bought a surplus load of them back in the late 90's sadly all covered in congealed gearbox or axle grease, took out all the easiest to clean up and these were the left-overs.

Hi Mike,

afraid not,   I sold off as one lot what was seen in the photo,  left it to the new owner to spend hours cleaning and trying to sort a few more decent ones.

cleaning off the grease is half the fun & learning eh

Hahahaaaa,  you're right that's why I didn't deprive someone else of ALL that fun !!  but seriously three hours cleaning down a $10 dollar retail item isn't really economic business wise.  A bit like me sat here typing this instead of being outside and being thirty feet up in a tree cutting back the height to protect the roof should it come crashing down and taking out the shingles.

Apologies if that sounds a bit grumpy perhaps I should be thinking of getting a 72 Gran Torino . . . . . . . . . . and changing my name to Clint. !!

😹 😹

regards lewis ( aka Clint )
