easterneagle87 Posted March 2, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 2, 2018 Got this from a buddy who was in the Marine Corps years ago. Is this a "military" badge?
Tonomachi Posted March 3, 2018 Share #2 Posted March 3, 2018 This looks like one of those replica law enforcement badges. They all share one thing and that is this pin back assembly which is out of focus but is a tear drop shaped piece of metal (saddle pin) that holds the pin onto the badge with a double circular bend at the top which gives it the spring effect and the catch is simply bent over at the opposite end. Here is an in focus photo of one of these replica badges.
easterneagle87 Posted March 5, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted March 5, 2018 I'd really like to think it isn't a replica
Bob Hudson Posted March 5, 2018 Share #4 Posted March 5, 2018 No kid played cowboy wearing a replica Provost badge (we only wanted to be Sheriff), but the Marines have used a wide variety of styles over the years for Provost and other law enforcement badges and it would not surprise me that this saw actual use. I posted some some USMC LE badges at http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/214541-marine-corps-badge-collection-mp-provost-security/
