Texas36th Posted March 2, 2018 Share #1 Posted March 2, 2018 Can anyone help me identify these Wings. They are golden color and they have a raised US on the front. They appear to be cast with no maker marks on the back. Any help with these would be appreciated. Sent from my LG-K425 using Tapatalk

rustywings Posted March 4, 2018 Share #3 Posted March 4, 2018 Based on the design of a silver WWI era US Army Air Service Pilot's wings, these gilt wings (minus the added on "U.S." attached to the shield) were allegedly available for purchase to the general public in the 1920's and 1930's. Supposedly, any barnstormer, crop-duster, aviation sweetheart, private pilot, civilian flying instructor, ect. could wear them. I don't believe they were ever approved for official wear by our military pilots... Numerous early interstate truck companies also converted them into cap badges and added their own company names or logos. Yours appears to have had a "U.S." officer's collar insignia attached.
