Blacksmith Posted March 2, 2018 Share #2 Posted March 2, 2018 I actually like the construction, while it's different in appearance from what I'm used to seeing. Maybe foreign-made? Will be interesting to get some expert opinions. Here's a past topic with some 508th patches: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/305993-508th-devil-patch/

Blacksmith Posted March 2, 2018 Share #6 Posted March 2, 2018 Original WWII examples were thick-bodied like that. I'm not saying the OP patch is original, just that original patches also had thick bodies during WWII, and later got skinny devils in Korea+. Looks like the devil should be on Weight Watchers! Bad copy!
Blacksmith Posted March 2, 2018 Share #7 Posted March 2, 2018 Here is an original late 50s / early 60s example on the left, next to an original WWII example at right.
tredhed2 Posted March 2, 2018 Share #8 Posted March 2, 2018 The patch in question is a terrible repop. Looks like a 3rd grade sewing project. Too many details are incorrect.
