viking73 Posted February 22, 2018 Share #1 Posted February 22, 2018 Hi, I added another Japanese made Vulcan lighter to my collection today. I had to take the day off from work to go to the doctor, and since I was close to the DFW area, I figured I'd check out a couple of antique malls I visit from time-to-time. I'm sure glad I did! I found this little well worn gem stuck in the back of a crowded display case. It is very used and not in the best shape as you can see, but I was very happy to find it. Here's a shot of the front side.
viking73 Posted February 22, 2018 Author Share #2 Posted February 22, 2018 The back is engraved to the 4th Strategic Support Squadron from back when SAC was still in the transport business. A quick look on Google tells me that the 4th SS SQDN was only at Dyess from 1957 - 1961 so this one is pretty old. Thanks for looking -Derek
huntssurplus Posted February 23, 2018 Share #3 Posted February 23, 2018 Nice find! I love these lighters even though I don't personally have any in my collection. Thanks for sharing!Hunt
Charlie Flick Posted February 23, 2018 Share #4 Posted February 23, 2018 Very cool. That SAC connection is most interesting. Charlie
viking73 Posted February 23, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted February 23, 2018 Thanks gents. Further research shows they flew the C-124 Globemaster while at Dyess AFB which is pretty cool! -Derek
