everforward Posted February 20, 2018 Share #35 Posted February 20, 2018 Still not bad for being 147 years old! Looking forward to seeing the Remington and other Colt. No doubt....this one would make a really cool early wild-west rig.
GWS Posted February 20, 2018 Share #36 Posted February 20, 2018 I'm looking at the bottom of the bolt recess notches in your photo----please tell me that those are not "holes" worn through the cylinder! The cylinder walls on all Colt's Richard's conversions were notoriously thin in this area! I certainly hope I am wrong on this, but between the missing ejector rod head and if the bolt had actually worn through the cylinder wall, it would account for the extremely nice cylinder scene and markings. That is to say, this pistol wasn't fired at all after one of the aforementioned calamities occurred! As I said, I sure hope this is just the photo or maybe some dirt in those areas. MattS Posted February 21, 2018 Share #50 Posted February 21, 2018 Hmm, not sure but I believe the inspector's cartouche on the left grip is GP, Giles Porter of Remington, found on New Model and Pettengill Revolvers, 1862-1875.
