Blacksmith Posted January 31, 2018 Share #8 Posted January 31, 2018 One of the few unquestionable originals, in a sea of fakes. Very nice.

Blacksmith Posted January 31, 2018 Share #10 Posted January 31, 2018 I claim no expertise - in any form - but I'd pop on this one in a hot second. While I know materials differ on original flags, the vast majority of these I've seen with iron-clad provenance are made from that silky / satin cloth. I also like that the star is from, what looks like, cotton. Hard to tell from the pics if the stitches are machine or hand done, but either way a winner in my book. I was holding my breath until I received it today..
Blu1989 Posted January 31, 2018 Share #11 Posted January 31, 2018 That's a great flag! My dad brought one home similar to this one that feels like it's made out of potato sacks and it has a white star instead of a yellow one (must be one of the variations). gwb123 Posted February 1, 2018 Share #12 Posted February 1, 2018 Flags made of a light weight cotton were common as well. And that is the problem... a lot of the reproductions are made the same way, often using the same dyes as the originals! This looks good. Thanks for sharing. Blacksmith Posted February 1, 2018 Share #13 Posted February 1, 2018 I learned these from you Gil, I'm glad I didn't get it wrong. Flags made of a light weight cotton were common as well. And that is the problem... a lot of the reproductions are made the same way, often using the same dyes as the originals! This looks good. Thanks for sharing.
