drbill Posted January 28, 2018 Share #1 Posted January 28, 2018 Picked up nice condition VN eraM-1 helmet and liner with nice condition Mitchell pattern cover. Has small tag with USMC nomenclature dates 4-1959. Are these rare or desirable. Will post pics later
268th C.A. Posted January 28, 2018 Share #2 Posted January 28, 2018 Mitchell covers are not anything rare, but I remember when the WW2 marine corps covers were a couple bucks! Now look at them. Mitchell covers that are nice are becoming harder too locate. So the price will escalate as time goes on....I still see mint ones for around $20 1959 is an earlier dated one... and its 58 years old
Justin Posted January 29, 2018 Share #3 Posted January 29, 2018 1959 lead pattern usmc covers are desirable, but not "rare". Leaf pattern covers were made from 1959 to 1977. Hardcore vietnam headgear collectors can spend years locating some of the harder to find covers, like P.O. 62 and clean minty 1964 covers. Prices are all over the place due to the time frame they were manufactured, and how difficult some years are to find.
