Big Al Posted January 28, 2018 Share #26 Posted January 28, 2018 The magazine bracket is better suited to use with a feed chute because it is made of heavier gauge material and riveted to the side of the gun. The later feed tray hanger for hanging bandoliers is less robust and is only hanging from the feed pawl pivot pin on the feed tray. Also, the magazine bracket was the standard fitting first. The feed tray hanger was the second pattern.
Big Al Posted January 28, 2018 Share #27 Posted January 28, 2018 This is the initial pattern of bandolier. It was just a flap-top poplin bag with a shoulder strap for carrying 100 rounds of belted ammunition in a cardboard carton with no provision for attachment to the gun. The carton was to be removed from the bandolier and placed in the magazine for loading.
