This MAY be a KIA Purple Heart and Army Commendation Medal. Both are named to Joshua Coleman, and there is a SP5 Joshua Coleman, an African American from Louisiana that died of wounds in 1970.

I seem to recall that someone was looking for a Vietnam KIA PH.

I sent the seller the screen shot he used in the auction. Interestingly, someone bought them and then returned them, telling the seller they were "fake". He then asked about their authenticity on facebook and I told him they were 100% real...so he relisted them again. They are a nice set; I'd buy them if he was from my area.

Saw these last night, they look good to me also! Always amazes me how in the short period of time since were issued they ended up in England! Someone will get a nice pair!

I was the winning bidder on this auction. I questioned the authenticity, but I Googled his name and it brought up this thread. Thanks for the information and verifying that they were legit. Now, not only am I bringing his medals back to this side of the pond, but also back home to Louisiana where they belong. I too wonder how so many groups end up so far away from home!

Thanks again for each of your input within this thread!

That is so good to hear, congrats, and welcome home Joshua Coleman.

Specialist Coleman’s medals arrived safe and sound back home in Louisiana this week.

I cannot find any information online concerning where he is currently interred. I’d like to get his I.D.P.F. I’ve looked online and cannot determine if these are located in St. Louis or Fort Knox for the Vietnam conflict. Anyone had any luck with obtaining these lately?

Thanks for the additional info, Scott. I wish I could find where Spc Coleman was interred, but no luck via FindAGrave.

That’s what I’m thinking. I know KIAs in WW2  were well documented as to which cemetery, especially if the family received a government marker. Not sure about Vietnam.

I’m wondering if he was burned or blown up beyond

sending him back ? Or maybe cremation?
on ancestry in a family tree I found states he was buried at sea or other burial ?
