They are fully machined 100th Infantry Division patches that were never cut from the khaki twill they were embroidered on. They are "greenback", and the back of the twill they are embroidered on seems to have a water resistant coating, which a poster told me is starch that was applied to make the patches easier to cut out. In the 4 years I've been casually collecting, I don't recall ever seeing uncut 100th patches, let alone earlier greenbacks.
